I have been buying these for 20 years.
When the band breaks, I buy another band and another watch. I put the watch in a drawer until the band breaks again, then I grab the new one and retire the old.
Repeat.
They are great, cheap watches that I don't mind if they break. I never take it off.

I don't have a watch.
I carry around a sundial and a flashlight.
So whenever someone asks me what time it is, I whip out my sundial and flashlight and say "Bitch, I make my own time"

That's why I wear what I wear.

a seiko 5. $50 from amazon +$30 for a nice band. Classy, simple design and even though it says "automatic" it is the watch equivalent of a manual.

Mine:
Or rather, a picture of one that looks exactly like mine. I've had it since... 1996, I believe. It had just been released back then, and it didn't properly fit my arm, so mom changed the straps for smaller ones. As I grew up, I put the originals back on and continued using it.

Seiko that I've had for the better part of a decade now. Almost have pulled the trigger on a few different things, but still haven't. Really like the look of some of the Autodromos.

IWC Aquatimer Cousteau. I'm not sure why but I just dig this thing.

Seikos are so under appreciated in the US. They make some great high-end watches.

I should also point out that your Casio is certainly way more accurate. :-)
![]() 03/06/2014 at 20:51 |

Exactly! I prefer some of these over the 1000$+ models. Seiko just has a good blend of nice looks and reliability, so im not afraid to wear them. I want the Seiko Samurai sooooo bad though. More than any Omega or Oris.

I've had this watch for almost 2 years and it's held up great. I wear it every single day with everything and I haven't found one thing I don't like about it. It has all the goodies too; solar charging, atomic signal receiving (it sets itself overnight so its always correct), alarms, calendar, and its waterproof to deeper than I'll ever go. I'm hoping to one day (in probably quite a while from now) get a Tag for more formal occasions, but for now this one is great for everything.

well, I've got 2. My Rotary Aquaspeed
and my G-Shock MT-G
I do have a few others, but these are the ones I wear most often.

Swiss Legend Neptune Diver.
It works quite well and was only around $60. I definitely would recommend it .

They have a premium line in Japan, and also a line called the "SpringDrive," which is a completely different kind of mechanism than any other watch on the planet. Really cool and unique.

This automatic Mondiane that I bought at a flea market in London back in 1999...paid 60 quid for it, probably too much. Had it serviced and cleaned and wore it daily for 13 years until the mainspring broke. Had that replaced and still wear it daily...note the honkin' big scratch across the crystal....and note the very old school Speidel Fixo-Flex band. Gets a surprising amount of comments from people...
![]() 03/06/2014 at 21:03 |

Yeah dude in the manual, it tells you it spins faster than an F1 engine! So ITS JDM LEGIT!
![]() 03/06/2014 at 21:11 |

It has to be legit! It's got the automatic power generator!
![]() 03/06/2014 at 21:14 |

Its pretty much a free energy device lol.

Indeed! The springdrives are sweet! Seems like in the US people know them for only being cheapy beaters. But they are just sooo much more. Sadly we dont get as good of a selection of flagship models in the US like they had 15 years ago. Luckily there arent any watch import restrictions! hehe.

I have two, both of which I use equally
The first one is last year's Nautica BFD diver's watch, good for 330ft underwater
My other one is a Citizen Eco-Drive Model: BL5250-02L
My stepdad is a watch collector, so we have quite a few fancy watches around the house. It's funny... For Tolo (A dance at my high school), I borrowed one of his watches. When he picked me up at 1:35 AM from an after party, he nonchalantly said "You do know that a
six thousand dollar
watch, right?" I was petrified when I found out it was worth more than all the stuff in my room combined! I'm not trying to brag, but it's insane how much one of these things can cost!

I bought myself a TAG Indy 500 when I got my first job, after graduation, becuase racecar. Its had two battery changes in 11 years. Put it on a NATO strap last summer. Still rock it on a regular basis.
